The working principle and characteristics of ultrasonic water meter

The current ultrasonic water meter is composed of ultrasonic probe, signal processing unit, display unit, and other parts. The ultrasonic water meter uses the principle of low voltage, and multi-pulse difference, and adopts high-precision and ultra-stable double-balanced signal difference to measure the ultrasonic transmission time in the upstream and downstream directions and calculate the flow rate according to the time difference. When the ultrasonic beam propagates in the liquid, the flow of the liquid will cause a small change in the propagation time, and the change in the propagation time is proportional to the flow rate of the liquid. At zero flow, the two sensors transmit and receive ultrasonic waves. The time required is exactly the same.

Ultrasonic water meter features:

(1) The ultrasonic water meter adopts ultrasonic flow measurement technology, no pressure loss, no mechanical rotating parts, which reduces the energy consumption of the water pump and reduces the cost of water supply;

(2) The ultrasonic water meter has high reliability, can work for a long time at any flow point, and is not disturbed by magnets;

(3) The ultrasonic water meter is powered by a battery, and one battery can work continuously for more than 6 years;

(4) The start-up flow of the ultrasonic water meter is low and the precision is high.

Recommendations for installing ultrasonic water meters:

(1) It is best to use vertical pipes with liquid upward (or diagonally upward), and horizontal pipes should be avoided as much as possible to avoid liquid downward (or diagonally downward) pipes to prevent liquid from filling the pipes;

(2) The installation position of the ultrasonic water meter should not be selected at the highest point of the pipeline. This is mainly to prevent the accumulation of air bubbles in the pipeline so that the ultrasonic water meter cannot operate normally and measure accurately;

(3) When the ultrasonic water meter is installed on a horizontal pipe, the panel of the ultrasonic water meter should be kept horizontal. When the installation requires inclined installation in special circumstances, the inclination angle cannot exceed 30°.
