Residential ultrasonic water meters use ultrasonic sensors to collect the acoustic signal of water flow and convert the signal into a digital signal through a signal processor. The measurement principle is as follows:

When the water passes through the flow time, the high-frequency sound wave emitted by the ultrasonic sensor will propagate in the water flow, and produce the echo signal of the frequency change under the change of the water speed. According to the Doppler effect, the frequency of the echo signal is proportional to the speed of the water flow.
